High School Seniors, Parents/Guardians, and Educators: Join us for the Learn How to Earn Scholarship Session on January 23

Did you know that the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region awarded $1.75 million in scholarships in 2024? Scholarships were awarded from among 238 funds created by people, businesses, and organizations to help students achieve their educational dreams. Many thanks to the generous donors who are partnering with us to make this incredible achievement happen.

Choua Schommer, Scholarship Manager

“As the manager of the largest scholarship program in the Fox Valley, we partner with more than 60 schools from our service area including our affiliate partners in Brillion, Chilton, Clintonville, Shawano, and Waupaca,” said Choua Schommer, Scholarship Manager. “This year we are excited to announce that more than $2 million in scholarships is available for students to help them on their educational journeys!”

To learn more about our scholarship program, we invite all high school seniors, parents/guardians, and educators to join us and the Appleton Education Foundation on Thursday, January 23 at 4:30 PM at the AASD Welcome Center, 2701 N Oneida Street, Suite C3, Appleton hosted by the Appleton Public Library. Contact teen@apl.org for questions. If you need an interpreter, translator, materials in alternate formats or other accommodations to access any library event, please call 920.832.6173.

If you are not able to attend this educational session, students are able to apply for scholarships through our user-friendly scholarship portal that includes a frequently asked questions section along with accessibility tools for non-English speaking applicants or people with visual challenges. Most deadlines to apply are this spring. Visit cffoxvalley.org/scholarships

Isabella, a scholarship recipient

Scholarships open doors to bright futures and impact the lives of students. Isabella is a continuing college student who received the Miller Family Music Education Scholarship that supports students who major in the music field. She provided us with an update on her musical studies.

“This was another semester full of exciting, challenging educational opportunities. I toured graduate schools and saw lots of incredible theatres in London over spring break, and rehearsals kicked into high gear for the world academic premiere of Black Square, a new dystopian opera directed by Nathan Gunn. I also auditioned for the International Lyric Academy’s musical theatre program for the summer, and spent an incredible two weeks in Vicenza, Italy in their concert production of Les Misérables. I look forward to another school year of fulfilling opportunities, made possible by this scholarship.”
