Welcome, Alona Boots!
Hi there! My name is Alona, and I recently joined the Community Foundation as a Donor Services Specialist. My role is to support designated funds and agency funds while also assisting the Donor Services team.
Like many of those before me, my journey to the Community Foundation has been unique and nonlinear. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Family & Consumer Sciences: Child, Youth, and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. Immediately after graduation, my career began in the nonprofit sector as a child welfare social worker in Iowa.
After my husband completed his Doctor of Chiropractic degree, we returned to settle in Appleton. Since then, I was fortunate to spend the last four years at a local organization, first as a case manager and then as the development manager supporting fundraising and grant efforts. I feel very honored to have witnessed our community’s generosity firsthand.
My husband and I live in Appleton with our daughter, who turns 3 this fall. We spend as much of our free time together as we can – supporting our favorite sports teams, seeing friends and family, and visiting Door County. In my free time, I’m an avid lover of coffee, reading, and strolling the aisles of Costco. I’m thrilled to join the Community Foundation team and look forward to supporting the amazing organizations that make our community so special.
