Waupaca Area Community Foundation continues making a difference
Our Waupaca Area Community Foundation affiliate partner celebrated its 20th year of improving the quality of life in Waupaca area communities last year, and its recently released 2023 Community Report highlights examples of its impact.
Last year 15 scholarship awards totaling $108,000 helped area students further their education. Grants of $748,937 were given to 50 nonprofit organizations. This includes $121,000 from the Foundation’s Waupaca Area Community Fund to 21 local nonprofits serving the area. “These grants helped in a variety of ways, from improving access to outdoor recreation to preserving Waupaca history, investing in positive youth development to meeting basic needs, and even opening a new monitored men’s sober living home,” said David P. Poeschl, Waupaca Area Community Foundation Advisory Board Chair.
Poeschl said the Foundation also played a role in bringing Memory Link Resource Navigators from the Fox Valley Memory Project to Waupaca. The navigators provide one-to-one support to caregivers and people with dementia, such as exploring options to fund in-home caregiving assistance.
The Foundation received $734,753 in contributions from 174 donors, increasing its assets to nearly $8.3 million. “We extend our deepest gratitude to our donors, partners, volunteers and the entire Waupaca area community for being the driving force behind our work,” Poeschl said.
