Amy Yang joins Foundation as People and Culture Specialist
Hi everyone! My name is Amy Yang, and I am the People and Culture Specialist at the Community Foundation. This newly created position fuses human resources with workplace culture and organizational development.
I have learned so much since I started in my new role in December. I am excited to continue to grow professionally and to find more ways to support the Community Foundation in its growth too!
Previously, I spent many years in higher education admissions and recruitment. As a lifelong learner and self-proclaimed professional student, I found great joy in helping non-traditional students navigate the admissions process. What I miss most about my life in higher ed is meeting students from all walks of life, hearing their stories, and rooting for them to succeed. Fortunately, I pivoted to this role where I continue to support others in their career development. I love being a resource for my colleagues in all things HR and contributing to an environment that fosters teaming and continuous learning.
I grew up in the Fox Valley and continue to live in my hometown with my husband, children and our dog, Luca. As a young woman, I dreamed of leaving for a big city adventure, but as an adult, I have come to genuinely appreciate what a wonderful place this is to raise my children.
I am extremely grateful to be working for the Community Foundation that is playing a big part in growing and preserving the places where my family continues to visit and play.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my family exploring new places to love and visiting our “old” favorites, too. In warmer temperatures, I enjoy riding my bike through the park, walking the trails, and taking day trips to the beach and the lake. During winter, you will find me drinking hot cocoa and watching movies with my family.
