The Nonprofit Leadership Initiative (NPLI), a program within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, is celebrating the graduates of three NPLI programs, the Leadership Institute, Board Academy, and Financial Leadership.

The photo above shows some of our 22 nonprofit board and staff members representing 25 nonprofits who participated in NPLI’s newest program, Financial Leadership. Working with long-time NPLI trainer, Steve Zimmerman, Spectrum Nonprofit Services, leaders spent eight sessions building their financial acumen. Leaders know that a better understanding of organizational finances leads to better decision-making.

The second year of Board Academy included a cohort of 14 board members spending six sessions learning from leaders in the field. Topics included board roles and responsibilities, ethical and legal, resource development, and fiscal strategy. Graduates are better equipped to guide the nonprofits they serve. Fifteen participants were part of the sixth cohort of the Leadership Institute, which offers offers educational modules on critical leadership, management, technical and governance topics and a Nonprofit Management Certificate. These dedicated leaders invested one year, totaling over 72 hours of classroom instruction, diving deep into topics critical to nonprofit management and strengthening their own leadership skills.

The Nonprofit Leadership Initiative within the Community Foundation is a partnership of Fox Valley-area nonprofits, funders, educational institutions and businesses dedicated to providing resources needed by effective nonprofit boards and executive leaders. NPLI offers a wide range of leadership, management and technical skill-building programs, as well as peer learning circles, to the entire nonprofit sector in the Fox Valley.
