Charitable seeds growing in New London

Posted on Jan 27, 2022, by

A good deed often leads to another. And another. In New London, the spirit of volunteering and charitable giving has been steadily growing.

The community is benefiting from the generosity of Joe Van Alstine and his wife, Lori Dehlinger Van Alstine. Their passion for the community runs deep, and they’ve provided for legacy gifts in the future. The couple is working to ensure the New London community continues to strengthen its relationship with the Community Foundation.

“Starting a New London affiliate of the Community Foundation in our hometown allows us, as well as others, the opportunity to give back and provide support for the betterment and growth of New London.  It’s a win-win!” says Lori.

Rock The Block NL Volunteer

Donations from individuals, families, businesses and organizations can help create a New London fund so it can begin making grants to local nonprofit organizations. People can give online at cffoxvalley.org/givenow or call 920.830.1290.

Last fall, the Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity kicked off its Rock the Block event to revitalize New London and other communities.

Volunteers fixed exteriors of homes for more than two dozen families in the New London area. Rock the Block is made possible through the help of hundreds of volunteers and organizations. The New London project is supported by grants from two funds within the Community Foundation: the Marilynn W. Taylor/Wohlt Cheese Fund and the U.S. Venture Fund for Basic Needs, and other community partners.

If you’d like to strengthen your community today and for generations to come, call us at 920.830.1290 or visit our Creating a Charitable Fund page.
