Yesterday, November 15, marked National Philanthropy Day. The purpose of this day is to recognize and celebrate the incredible philanthropic work making a difference and creating positive change. The theme for National Philanthropy Day is changing the world with a giving heart. Philanthropy comes in all shapes and sizes. It is all about giving of ourselves for the good of all.

Each day hundreds of individuals, companies and organizations help change the world with a giving heart. From donors to volunteers, from large nonprofits to grassroots organizations, from individual donors to community foundations, each has made a contribution to our communities, our nation, and our world. National Philanthropy Day provides an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of giving and all that it has made possible.

Communities around the world will be celebrating National Philanthropy Day this week, including Northeast Wisconsin. Our local chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals brings us this opportunity each year to celebrate philanthropy and all those who make our community a special place. The Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region is proud and honored to be a sponsor of this annual event.

Tomorrow, November 17 at Lambeau Field, we will be recognizing and celebrating this year’s National Philanthropy Day award recipients. From a lifetime philanthropist to a youth philanthropist, we know our community is made up of special people with a passion to create change through their giving.
