First female board officer Mary Sensenbrenner dies at age 89
Mary B. Sensenbrenner, a founding board member of the Community Foundation and the only woman among its initial board officers, died at her Neenah home June 7. She was 89. She served on the Board of Directors 1986-91.
“Mary Sensenbrenner was one of those people that had the ability to see a need and then put a plan in place to fix it. She cared so much about her community and worked tirelessly to make it a better place. She never was afraid to speak her mind and she never was afraid to work. I had a tremendous respect for this special lady who made the Fox Cities a much better place,” says John F. Bergstrom, chairman and CEO of the Bergstrom Corp and close friend of the Sensenbrenner family.
Mary and John are long time contributors to many causes in the community but prefer no public recognition of their gifts.
Mary’s other community involvements included the Neenah Board of Education, the ThedaCare Medical Center-Neenah Foundation, Future Neenah, Lawrence University, Valley VNA and the Wisconsin Coalition for Academically Talented Youth.
A private memorial service is planned.
