Steve Veldhorst joins the Community Foundation team as CFO!
By Steve Veldhorst, chief financial officer, Community Foundation
Hello everyone! I am Steve Veldhorst, one of the newest members of the team here at the Community Foundation. I’m honored and humbled to introduce myself as its chief financial officer. I’m extremely excited to get to work for such a great organization in an area that I am proud to call home!
After graduating from UW-Whitewater, I moved up to Appleton to start my career at Schenck & Associates. I then worked for Party Concepts, Inc., and Modern Business Machines, both in Appleton, before coming to the Community Foundation.
I grew up in Cedar Grove, Wisconsin, which is on the shores of Lake Michigan between Sheboygan & Port Washington. I’ve known my wife, Kay, since the 2nd grade and we began dating in our junior year of high school. Needless to say, I married my lifelong sweetheart!
About my family: Kay and I reside in Neenah along the shores of Lake Winnebago. Kay teaches Physical Education at Fox Valley Christian Academy in Neenah. We have three children: Amy is our oldest. She and her husband, Brian, live in Wausau, where Brian is a firefighter/paramedic and Amy is a homemaker and a substitute teacher when time allows. They have one daughter, Avalynn, and another on the way in September, Lord willing!
Katelyn is our next oldest and she and her husband, Joe, live in Menomonee Falls. Katelyn is the Sports Director at the Oconomowoc YMCA, while her husband Joe is a chiropractor in West Bend. Our youngest, Bradley, is a financial advisor with Northwestern Mutual in Appleton.
I enjoy spending my free time with family and friends, boating, fishing, golfing, going to our family cottage near Crivitz, watching sports (Packers, Badgers, Brewers & Bucks). We also love to travel and one of my goals is to see all 50 states (only 5 left on my bucket list!).
I look forward to serving with the team here, as well as connecting generous donors to their passions and interests – helping us all to make an impact in our communities!
