Charitable funds help Youth Go get cooking

Posted on Jan 2, 2019, by

Youth Go Neenah is back open today after a brief winter break, giving children and teens a chance to learn new life skills by working together in a brand new kitchen.

The nonprofit’s kitchen remodel project transformed a small cramped space into a large space with room for all to wear the “chef’s hat.”

“We are thankful for the generosity of some wonderful donors, as we were in need of a new space,” says Kelly Martin Hicks, executive director. “This kitchen remodel will help us to increase efficiency and offer more life-skills programming to our youth.”

Youth Go, Inc. is a non-profit youth drop-in center providing at-risk students in grades 5 through 12 with opportunities to do well in school, develop as individuals, prepare for their future and develop positive relationships with peers and adults.

The Community Foundation provided grants totaling $65,000 from several of our charitable funds to help make it possible: the Robert Dohr and Lilas Dohr Current Community Needs Fund, the Evelyn and Aurthur Lierman Children’s Fund, the Schmerein Family Fund, the John J. and Ethel D. Keller Fund and an anonymous donor.
