Estate gift will repay what Shawano has given
Todd and Mary Raether want to encourage people to support their community through a fund at the Community Foundation, but they realize giving now is not a possibility for everyone. But for some, giving a gift through their estate may be achievable.
The Raethers have arranged for a gift from their estate to support the Shawano Area Community Foundation, an affiliate serving Shawano and the surrounding area. Todd is a longtime member of the SACF Board and sees the legacy gift as a way to leave an inheritance to the community that has been good to him throughout his life. Todd grew up in Shawano and the couple has lived there for their 30 years of marriage.
“It’s important to us because the community has done so much for us,” Todd said.
The Raethers have a charitable fund with SACF currently, and can continue to support their favorite charities forever by adding to it through their estate.
By arranging the gift, the Raethers were invited to join the Himebaugh Legacy Circle. They accepted that invitation, and added their names to the list of Himebaugh Legacy Circle members. Being on the list, they said, lets others know they will be in plenty of company if they choose to provide for their favorite charities after they have passed away.
In that way, you can give back to your community for a lifetime of support for long after your own lifetime.
