Meet our intern, Claire
Hi everyone!
My name is Claire Baker and I am spending this summer as an intern here at the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region.
I grew up in Appleton and graduated from Appleton East High School in 2013. I have just completed my freshman year at UW Madison and I love being a Badger! I am majoring in Community and Nonprofit Leadership and I am so excited to have found a major that encompasses everything I have always wanted in a career.
So far at the Community Foundation, I have been working on an assortment of projects in a variety of departments, including participating in the grant-making process, working with donor’s funds, learning about the marketing process, and attending community events. I chose this internship because of all the different opportunities and experiences it could provide me with and I certainly have not been let down! I continue to look forward to the projects and events still to come, and my goal for the summer is to learn from every experience that I am a part of, and use this knowledge to narrow down exactly what role I would like to play in the community and nonprofit world.
Thus far though, I am having a hard time narrowing anything down because I am so intrigued by all the work the Foundation does! Even though I grew up in the Fox Valley, I never knew how many organizations were collaborating on projects, nor did I know how many incredible things were going on right in my own community, and I am so proud that I am now a part of it all.
In addition to my internship, my summer plans also include enjoying my time back home with my family, spending time in the long-awaited sunshine, and taking a trip to the Marine base in Twentynine Palms, California to visit my boyfriend who is stationed there.
Thank you for reading and have a wonderful summer!
