Screen time? Make it Scholarship Time!

Posted on Dec 30, 2019, by

Winter vacation is ending soon, and while high school seniors may not be filling out college applications quite yet, you can bet their parents are already pondering the “T” word – tuition – and wondering how to afford those fees.

Click to apply now!

We can help! This is the perfect time to get a jump on available scholarships, and the Community Foundation has more than $1 million in scholarships available for 2020.

Our Community Foundation manages one of the largest scholarship programs in the Fox Valley area on behalf of our donors.

Applications are judged by several factors, including merit, financial need, the college or university the student will attend, the field of study, the high school from which the student will graduate, and other criteria selected by the donors.

Applications for most of our scholarships are now on our website, and many have early spring application deadlines. You can search in our list of 60 schools, including regional families of funds in Brillion, Chilton, Clintonville, Shawano and Waupaca. Once you find the scholarships you qualify for, you can apply right online.

Through the generosity of our donors, we have more than $1 million in scholarships available each year to students from 60 schools, including for high school seniors, college and nontraditional students and K-12 art and music camps and lessons. In 2019, 438 students received scholarships totaling $1.36 million. See the Scholarship Recipient List for 2019 – 20. Even if you don’t think you qualify for financial aid, colleges and universities require all students and parents to fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You’ll also want to make sure there’s enough time to gather all of the required information (letters of recommendation, grade reports, SAR, ACT/SAT scores, essays, etc.), before filling out college applications.

Would you like to help award a scholarship? We have many scholarship committees that need volunteers to evaluate applications. Contact our donor services and scholarship manager Jill Muthig at (920) 702-7619 or [email protected].
