In response to the July 27, 2026, tornado that devastated communities in the tri-county region of Winnebago, Calumet, and Outagamie counties, the Community Response Fund 2026 Tornado Relief was activated on July 28, 2026.

Together, we are working to move resources responsibly to support the nonprofits and community organizations at the center of the tornado relief and recovery efforts.

The Community Response Fund within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region will support nonprofit and other community organizations engaging in relief, short-term response or longer-term recovery, following a community emergency. This fund is a partnership between the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, United Way Fox Cities, and the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation ensuring resources are directed where they are needed most.

About the Community Response Fund

The Community Response Fund is focused on two equally important goals:

Meeting the immediate and longer-term needs of community members affected and
sustaining the organizational capacity of the groups doing the recovery and response work.

Grants distributed from the Community Response Fund support nonprofits serving residents across Outagamie, Calumet, Shawano, Waupaca, and the Neenah-Menasha area of Winnebago counties. Prioritization is given to charitable organizations serving those facing the greatest barriers to recovery including older adults, people with disabilities, low-income households, individuals experiencing homelessness, and non-English-speaking families.

$6,721,050 has been awarded to local organizations supporting tornado relief and recovery efforts.

These grants support a range of needs, including housing, financial assistance, food, mental health services, volunteer coordination, accessibility support, and recovery navigation. A grant’s category reflects its primary recovery role. Some grants support more than one community need.
