For the past 25 years, The Salvation Army – Fox Cities has operated housing programs out of the Housing Services building, formerly known as Project Home. This building, originally a fire station, was sold in 1992 for $1 by the City of Appleton. This was made possible by a Community Foundation committee that was looking for a transitional housing solution for the homeless population of Appleton. The Boldt Company was the original contractor!

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we are able to provide the following housing services to the Fox Cities:

•  11 fully furnished efficiency apartments for formerly homeless individuals.
•  35 households in the community served through our Scattered-Site, Housing Retention and Pathway of Hope programs.
•  All participants in our programs are provided with case management and life skills services. This includes: resource referral, goal planning, budgeting, educational workshops, Rent Smart, and general support services as needed.

Although Salvation Army has been providing housing services for over 150 years, this building on Badger Street in Appleton is celebrating its 25^th year! Salvation Army would like to share with the community the education of The Salvation Army, local stories, stats and much more.

The Salvation Army – Fox Cities Housing Services 25th Anniversary Event is on the 25th of September from 10 am – 6 pm. All are welcome to stop by the Housing Services building (105 S. Badger St.) for a tour, to learn more about our programs and enjoy some food and entertainment.

Several generous donors have supported the Salvation Army Fox Cities, including the Harold L. and Esther Graef Hamilton Fund, the Phil & Marilyn Brockish Family Charitable Fund and the Dr. Gilbert and Barbara Mueller Family Fund, all within the Community Foundation.  Want more stories like these?
