Having grown up in Houston, Texas, I often get asked why I made the move, and I always joke that I came to experience snow. After five years of Wisconsin winters, I’ve grown quite accustomed to the snow, but nothing could have prepared me for my first blizzard. Thanks to Blizzard Elsa, my first day in the office was postponed twice. I was truly all dressed up with nowhere to snow.
I am a recent graduate of Lawrence University, where I majored in general and choral music education. In lieu of teaching, I decided to pursue a career in nonprofits like the Community Foundation that have a direct impact on the youth in the community. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be here, and I look forward to contributing to the community that has so warmly welcomed a Native Houstonian!
In my free time, I really enjoy listening to music, especially at live concerts hosted in Lawrence’s beautiful Memorial Chapel. I love the outdoors and try to seek out a new hike or trail every couple of months with my closest friends. I also really enjoy cooking at home and trying local and ethnic cuisines at restaurants around the Fox Cities.
Welcome to the Community Foundation team, Camara!
