What We Fund

RANGE OF GRANTMAKING:
Awards typically $1,000 to $6,000

APPLICATION DEADLINES

Ongoing with funding decisions being made quarterly. Grants will be made once per calendar year to an organization.

GRANT PRIORITIES

The Fox Cares Foundation strengthens communities in its service area by making grants in three priority areas:

Homelessness

  1. Emergency shelter programs.
  2. Temporary or transitional housing programs where counseling, case worker assistance, and education are employed to help people move from shelter to independent, self-supported housing.
  3. Other projects and programs assisting those experiencing homelessness.

Hunger and food insecurity

Because we support Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin which provides food to local pantries, we typically will not fund pantries that receive Feeding America support. For non-Feeding America partners, we’re particularly interested in funding:

  1. Development of systems that give an organization access to increase food security.
  2. Truly innovative solutions to food insecurity.
  3. Grants for culturally specific and/or difficult to secure foods; creation of mobile pantries; programs that educate their clients about healthy cooking/foods, etc.

Arts

We are particularly interested in funding projects with a measurable impact on individuals for whom access to the arts is difficult. If those projects can be seen or experienced by others in the community, we find that to be particularly compelling. We fund:

  1. Projects and programs that actively engage under-represented populations in the arts.
  2. Arts projects and programs that engage children and young adults in the arts in order to improve their math, reading, cognitive, verbal, or reading skills.
  3. Art projects designed to build community in lasting, meaningful and measurable ways.

What We Don’t Fund

  1. Programs, projects or events that benefit specific individuals
  2. Religious organizations, unless it is a secular community outreach program benefiting the entire community (e.g. a homeless shelter or food bank)
  3. Governmental entities, including schools
  4. Fraternal organizations
  5. Sponsorships and fundraisers
  6. Capital campaigns and projects
  7. Holiday meals, community meals or one-time events
  8. Organizations that re-grant to other nonprofits
