If you drop a donation in red kettles in the Fox Cities on Friday, Dec. 22, the Salvation Army – Fox Valley will receive twice the dollar amount (up to $40,000) toward meeting holiday needs, thanks to 21 donor funds within the Community Foundation.
The Community Foundation Match Day will be the largest matching offer for the Salvation Army this year, and the fifth consecutive year of making a match available.
“We are never surprised by the generosity of our donors,” said Curt Detjen, President and CEO of the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region. “We are pleased that so many of them are taking advantage of this opportunity to leverage their grants to produce more giving for the good work of the Salvation Army. This is just one of many ways we can help our donors give to causes they care about.”
“The Community Foundation $40,000 match day will give a much needed boost to the final days of our fund drive,” said Rob Waugus, Salvation Army Director of Communications. “We are so blessed for the much needed support here in the Fox Cities.”

The Salvation Army has set a goal of $1.1 million for its red kettle collections, mail appeals and year-end contributions this year. The kettle collections account for up to 60 percent of the local Salvation Army’s operating budget. This month, the Fox Cities Salvation Army is set to provide Christmas assistance to 1,685 families during its annual distribution program beginning Dec. 19.
