A pilot wouldn’t fly a plane without consulting dashboard gauges. Unfortunately, many nonprofit leaders pilot their organizations without easy access to the information they need to stay on course.

A free regional nonprofit compensation and benefits survey will launch in October to give nonprofit leaders one more gauge on their dashboard. The survey, supported by the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region and other partners, aims to equip executive directors, CEOs and boards to build compensation structures and benefits packages to support staff retention.

In early capacity-building experiments, human resources has risen to the top of the list of nonprofit pain points. This free survey will put another tool in the toolbox of nonprofit leaders, at no cost to their organizations beyond the 45 minutes it takes to complete it.
Nonprofit leaders who participate in the survey between Oct. 1 and 15 will receive data in early 2020 in two forms: a PDF executive summary and an online interactive visualization that can be filtered by organization budget, nonprofit subsector and county.

InterSector, a nonprofit capacity-building initiative launched by the J. J. Keller Foundation in November 2018, has undertaken the survey in response to the nonprofits it has served to date.

The compensation and benefits survey will cover the Green Bay, Fox Cities and Oshkosh markets, including Brown, Calumet, Door, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Kewaunee, Oconto, Outagamie, Portage, Shawano, Waupaca, Waushara and Winnebago counties.
