Charitable Funds

Individuals, families and organizations establish charitable funds with us to make a difference the community in ways that help others today and for future generations. It’s easy to start a fund with a gift of cash, stock, real estate or almost any asset. We can help you plan a gift that meets your charitable goals and will generate grants to benefit your favorite charitable causes today and long after you’re gone.

Grants

In Spring 2024 the Chilton Area Community Foundation awarded $49,400 in grants from the Chilton Area Community Foundation Fund to 12 nonprofit organizations to improve quality of life in the greater Chilton area.

2024 Grant recipients include:

• Bay-Lakes Council Boy Scouts of America: $1,000 for its annual Scouting for Food Drive. The funds help raise awareness about the food drive through door hangers on homes and posters in local businesses.
• Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Wisconsin: $1,500 for its Big Futures program.
• Calumet County Agricultural Association: $5,000 to make repairs to the Historic Educational Calumet County Dairy Arena.
• Chilton Area School District libraries: $3,500 for its Literacy Through Art murals initiative. The grant will fund the creation of two murals at Chilton High School.
• Chilton Public Library: $5,000 for its Enriching Lives Through Literacy project. The November program helps students, and their families celebrate the love and importance of reading.
• Community Clothes Closet: $5,000 to help bring its Traveling Closet to Chilton.
• Exceptional Equestrians: $3,000 to support hippotherapy and its mental health programs for youth, teens and adults receiving therapy.
• Friends of Women in Recovery dba The Beacon House: $5,000 to support services for Chilton area residents participating in their transitional living experience.
• Lakeshore Natural Resource Program: $5,000 for its Stony Brook Collaborative Restoration Project. Stony Brook is the only clear, cold-water stream in Calumet County. The project builds on an existing partnership with the Chilton Area School District’s Trout in the Classroom project.
• LEAVEN: $5,500 to provide limited financial assistance to Chilton area residents facing barriers to economic stability.
• New Hope Center, Inc.: $5,000 for its InnerAct Summer Camp for school-age children with developmental disabilities.
• Potter Fire Department: $4,900 to purchase a thermal imaging camera to help fight fires and locate victims.

Charitable funds within the Chilton Area Community Foundation have awarded more than $650,000 in grants since the CACF was established in 2001. Most grants are awarded through funds for which the donors recommend recipients or have dedicated all grant money to specific charitable organizations or causes. Competitive grants from funds directed by the CACF Board are awarded through an annual application process. Applications are due January 31.

We now have more than 50 funds established by families, businesses and other entities.  These funds provide a wide variety of support in the community — from important nonprofit services to scholarships to assist Chilton High School graduates pursuing higher education.
